Your Pond is the online store of Swan Valley Fish and Lily Farm.
Since the opening of Swan Valley Fish and Lily Farm in February 2008 we have had many requests for an online store for more convenient shopping for our existing customers and to enable a greater number of people to access the great prices, product and expertise we offer. We are a family owned and operated business providing superior customer service and expert advice on pond set up and maintenance. We are not just a shop with a couple of pond displays, we have over 80 ponds on site, where we grow our Water Lilies and Koi, so we understand in great detail how ponds work, the seasonal nature of pond systems and the things that can and do go wrong and how to fix them. We run plant filtraton systems, biofilters and still ponds so we have practical knowledge of the advantages and disadvantages of these systems.
Swan Valley Fish and Lily Farm was inspired by Jim and Barbara Hoffman, who's almost 20 years of industry expertise have made this venture possible. Not to mention a few years of hard labour by Tim and Tracy, owners of Swan Valley Fish and Lily Farm. We are set on 5 acres in Perth's picturesque Swan Valley wine and tourism region, 45 minutes from Perth's CBD. Our pond design and layout is unique in Australia and allows customers to view the ponds from above, maximising the visual impact of the water lilies and Koi.
All the concrete panels for the ponds and walkways were poured on site and positioned with the help of a bobcat. All in all over 1000 panels have been constructed over a 2 year period, meaning that most of our friends and relatives were talked in to helping us at some stage. All ponds were formed with concrete panel sides and lined with PVC pond liner. Red concrete walkway slabs were then moved into place. Each pond was then planted with a different variety of water lily and we waited in anticipation for flowering to begin. Finally in October 2007 our first water lily flower bloomed, this was the white hardy water lily Gladstone.
Filtration is via a massive natural plant filter which is gravity fed, the plants remove the nutrient from the water and sediment settles in the filter, water is returned to the ponds via 2 large pumps through a network of plumbing pipe hundreds of metres in length. We can also use this filter to grow water plants for sale and can utilise edible plants in our kitchen for family meals.
We hope that if you are located in Western Australia you will come and visit us where you can shop with us face to face and enjoy seeing the stunning range of water lilies we have for sale and display.
